Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka will be conducting a camp for Hindu Tamil speaking youth in Sri Lanka in December 2009.

The purpose of this camp is to impart spiritual values and build the character of the participating youth so that they become useful to themselves and the society at large.

The Chinmaya Mission is looking for donations to conduct the camp from well wishers, full details are as follows:

Background

Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK) has conducted several camps and workshops around Sri Lanka. The National Youth Camp has almost become an annual event in the CHYK calendar. CHYK has conducted 5 such National Youth Camps in the past in the years 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008 respectively. More than 2000 youth from all over Sri Lanka participated in and benefited from these camps. This year too CHYK plans to conduct the CHYK National Youth Camp in keeping with its vision.

Vision

As the nation building is the need of the hour, to enable and empower the youth with knowledge to transform their lives so that they can build a nation with harmony and peace in keeping with the motto of CHYK – “Harnessing Youth Potential through Dynamic Spirituality” and its vision of “To empower youth with the vision, values, and dynamism for success in all fields” is our vision for this camp.
Beneficiaries.

Approximately 150 youth in the age group 14 to 30 years from Colombo, Upcountry, Negombo, Trincomalee and Batticaloa will be the beneficiaries of this program.

Benefits

We want to enable and empower the youth transform their lives through character building.

Through this transformation they can build a nation of with peace and harmony. In order to achieve this we plan to provide knowledge and practical means of achieving the following through a series of lectures, workshops and games during this camp:

• Personality un-foldment, through enlightenment of the intellect and enrichment of character

• A systematic and deliberate preparation, to enable the youth to face the challenges and realities of life with a smile
• To cultivate qualities necessary to win the game of life such as:
• Clarity of vision
• Team spirit
• Capacity to rise above one’s weaknesses
• Equipoise and creativity
• To develop new habits, trends, goals and ways of living

The youth who took part in the camps earlier have been inspired from such programs and we believe that this camp too will enable the youth to transform their lives.

Venue & Time

It is intended to hold this camp at facility at the MAS Fabric Park at Warakapola, Sri Lanka – from 23rd to 27th of December 2009.

The background of this youth is such that The Chinmaya Mission will not be charging the cost of this camp to the youth.

The Chinamaya Mission therefore is looking for financial donations and sponsorships from well wishers.
